Codex Bobbiensis (k)

The short ending of Mark

The last page of the Gospel according to Mark in Codex Bobbiensis has the so-called shorter ending, which in other witnesses reads after verse 8, "But they reported briefly to Peter and those with him all that they had been told. And after this Jesus himself sent out by means of them, from east to west, the sacred and imperishable proclamation of eternal salvation." The Latin text in Bobbiensis is strangely garbled with errors of transcription. The ending begins on the ninth line of the page: Omnia autem quaecumque praecepta erant et qui cum puero [this should read cum Petro] erant breviter exposuerunt. Posthaec et ipse ihesus adparuit, et ab orientem usque usque in orientem [this should read, ab orientem usque ad occasum] misit per illos sanctam et incorruptam [add praedicationis (?) from the margin] salutis aeternae. Amen.
